Founded in 2011, PUC Early College Academy for Leaders & Scholars (eCALS) – a Title I Academic Achievement Award-Winning , Gold Ribbon Award-Winning and WASC Accredited School – is one of three schools on the Sotomayor Learning Academies campus. PUC has been operating public charter schools in Northeast Los Angeles for more than fifteen years. We are pleased to be partnering with LAUSD to provide more high quality choices to residents of these communities. PUC eCALS is a free public charter school open to all students who live in the Sotomayor Learning Academies’ attendance boundary and beyond.
eCALS is ranked in the top 20% of high schools in the country by the U.S. News and World Report.
eCALS has a 95% College-Going Rate amongst graduates. eCALS alumni have attended some of the best universities in the country, including UCLA, USC and Columbia.
eCALS students take free college courses while in high school. The credits from the courses can be transferred to colleges and universities within California.
eCALS students receive individual support in a small learning environment, with a student-teacher ratio of 15:1 per class.

Mental Health counseling
PUC’s Clinical Counseling Program provides mental health support to the diverse community at our school while remaining inclusive and equitable in its practices. The program’s mission is to remove barriers to learning. By removing barriers to learning, students can better focus on academic achievement and achieve higher outcomes.
Incredible core curriculum, so many clubs, one-on-one college counseling, variety of sports, the best teachers who only want the best for all their students. I can't wait to take in college and apply what I've learned from here. Forever grateful!
